Henrik Ibsen

A Doll’s House

Adapted and Directed by Rory Stuart

Things are looking up for the Helmers.

After years of scrimping and saving, Torvald has landed a promotion at work, finally giving the family the financial security and social position they crave. Nora couldn’t be happier.

But as faces from their past force long-held secrets out into the open, Nora must confront the consequences of her actions and question just how perfect her marriage really is.

Ibsen’s play captures one woman’s journey in the face of an oppressive society and remains as charged, intense and provocative as it was over 140 years ago.

In 2019, HangFire’s production of A Doll’s House was awarded Best Classic or Revival from NE Theatre Blogger Chris on Theatre.

“I was impressed with Rory Stuart’s version of A Doll’s House…[he] managed to condense this into one hour and still managed to capture very effectively all that matters in the play…HangFire have a lot going for them with this format of pared-down classics, but they set themselves a hard act to beat with that one.”
